I have been trying to get my Substack paid subscriptions to work for quite some time. I finally got it to work. I got my first 3 paid subscribers. The monthly subscription for my newsletter is $5 a month and the annual subscription is $50.
It is good to see some revenue numbers on my dashboard. Two people have signed up for a $5 a month plan which gives me an annual revenue of $60 a year. And 1 person paid for the annual subscription that costs $50 one time for a year.
The payments are collected in my stripe account.
Substack charges me a 10% commission on all these payments, but it’s ok. Without Substack’s infrastructure, running a paid newsletter is very difficult.
Most of the articles I write will be free, but I will publish one exclusive article per week for my paid subscribers. A business case study like How Siddharth Rajsekar Makes Money. It takes a lot of time to research other businesses, and offering those case studies only to my paid community makes sense.
You can choose to sign up for the monthly plan or annual plan. It will support me as a writer and allow me to spend more time writing.
My first goal is to reach 100 paid subscribers which will give me $500 a month in income.
My second goal is to get to 1000 paid subscribers which will give me $5000 a month in income.
An income source from this writing will also help me grow MicroStartup faster because I can take less salary from my company and reinvest everything back into the growth of the business.
Thanks a lot for being a reader. Even if you are not going for the paid subscription, you are still “paying me” your valuable attention and that means a lot to me.
Cheers,
